The Guyana Elections Com-mission (GECOM) on Monday briefed the Private Sector Commission (PSC) on preparations for this year’s general elections, saying that it was satisfied with the pace at which the work was proceeding.
A release from the Commission yesterday stated that GECOM Chairman Dr. Steve Surujbally updated the PSC representatives on the current status of the National Identification Card distribution exercise; preparations for the conduct of Claims and Objections; and the overall preparations for the conduct of the elections. “Dr. Surujbally assured the PSC team, which was headed by Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo, Chairman of the organisation, that GECOM is satisfied at the pace of implementation of the tasks listed in the Work Plan for the elections,” the release stated.
It added that the PSC representatives pledged to give all possible support towards the successful conduct of this year’s general and regional elections.
The PSC team included its Executive Director Roubinder Rambarran and President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry Komal Ramnauth.
