Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Water Inc (GWI), Yuri Chandisingh is leaving the entity and has submitted his resignation, according to sources in the water utility.
Efforts to contact Chandisingh for comment yesterday were futile. When Stabroek News contacted his office, this newspaper was told that he was in a meeting. According to one source, the CEO submitted his resignation “because there was some issue with the Minister”.
“I’m not commenting on that” said Public Relations Officer of GWI, Timothy Austin when contacted by this newspaper yesterday on whether Chandisingh had resigned.
Chandisingh was named Chief Executive of GWI after the former CEO, Karan Singh was given marching orders in March 2009 following a probe into mismanagement at the utility. Before then, Chandisingh was Director of Operations at the company.
