A jury, consisting of seven men and five women, has been empanelled for the trial of Ramnarine Mohabir and his son Suresh Mohabir.
The two men are accused of the August 2006 murder of Saheed Mohamed. At the High Court yesterday, the Mohabirs appeared before Justice Winston Patterson and pleaded not guilty to the murder.
It is alleged that on August 6, 2006, at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, they murdered Mohamed. The two accused and the deceased were residents of the area where the alleged crime occurred.
Prosecutor Judith Gildharie-Mursalin is leading the state’s case while attorney Bernard De Santos is representing the two accused. The trial is to commence today.
