A teenager accused of hitting a man over the head with a bottle pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault yesterday, when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Travis Moore, 18, denied that on January 17, he assaulted Vernal Thorne so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
The prosecutor told the court that Thorne was standing in his yard when he noticed Moore coming towards him with a bottle in hand. Thorne inquired what he was doing with the bottle and Moore became annoyed and dealt him a blow to the head with the weapon. Moore was later arrested.
Moore was granted bail in the sum on $25,000 and the matter was adjourned until January 27.
The two were placed on a bond to maintain the peace, pending the determination of the matter.
