Former West Indies players Roger Harper and Reon King are the names being bandied around to replace current coach of the national senior cricket team Rabindranauth Seeram.
Guyana the defending regional T20 champions have been a shadow of the team that lifted the title last season.
They went to the Airtel Champions League in South Africa last year and failed to win a match there. They then returned home and failed to fire in the regional 50 overs tournament in Jamaica.
This year at the Regional T20 tournament, they are out at the preliminary stage and will not repeat as champions. This has sparked calls for the removal of Seeram as coach.
A source close to the Guyana team told Stabroek Sport that the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) may well look to former captain Harper or King.
“The GCB is looking to replace Seeram after the less than impressive performances and they are looking at Harper and King. “Harper is the first choice and if things don’t go down right with the negotiations, then they will look in the direction of King.”
Harper has coached the West Indies senior team as well as the Kenyan Senior team in the past.
