DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC – West Indies teenaged batting star Stafanie Taylor has jumped to number two in the latest ICC Women’s batting rankings, following her prolific scoring against India in the recent One-Day International series.
The 19-year-old right-hander scored 220 runs to move up two places to be second behind Indian stroke-maker Mithali Raj who remains number one.
West Indies, ranked sixth in the world, lost the five-match series 3-2 to world number three India, in another fighting display by the Caribbean side.
Taylor was also rewarded for her efforts with the ball against India and has leapt six spots to be 10th in the bowlers’ rankings, after nabbing nine wickets with her off-spin.
Her movement in both the batting and bowling rankings has also seen her move into second in the all-rounders rankings, one up from her previous number three spot.
There was also movement for off-spinner Anisa Mohammed who finished the series with eight wickets to jump 11 places to 12th in the bowlers’ rankings.
Taylor and Mohammed were joined by Shanel Daley who shot up 27 places to 30th in the batting rankings but there was disappointment for Deandra Dottin who fell one spot to 16th.
Australia’s Shelley Nitschke, meanwhile, reclaimed the top bowling spot after previous leader Jhulan Goswami of India slid to fourth spot.
