(Trinidad Newsday) The pain of the loss of her twin sons who drowned in Mayaro last Sunday, was too much for Ramona Baldi to bear. As a result, she collapsed several times between their coffins during their funeral service yesterday at the New Testament Church of God, in Lengua, Princes Town.
Baldi had to be eventually lifted away as each time she regained her composure she pounded the coffins calling out her sons’ names. “Where my Ricky and Ryan” she cried. Twin brothers Ricky and Ryan Lall, 16, of St Croix Road, Princes Town drowned along with their friend Trinidadian Mahendra Deonarine, 20 of Lothians Road, Princes Town last Sunday at Bonespoire Beach in Mayaro.
The boys worked part time at Persad Food Store in Princes Town where they became friends with Deonarine. The three bodies were recovered two days later at three different locations in Mayaro.
The boys biological father identified only as “Mr Lall” flew in from the United States to attend their funeral. A pastor brought greetings from the Enterprise Baptist Church in Demerara, Guyana where the boys attended before migrating to Trinidad to be with their mother and stepfather Vishnu Baldi. Family friend Clara Douglas said they Guyana on July 26, 2008 and despite the challenges they faced pertaining to issues “of school,” they “persevered with prayer and laughter”. The Lall brothers also leave to mourn siblings Leon, Kevin, Danny, Mareka, Shalani and Farah and other close relatives. They were laid to rest at the Inverness Public Cemetery.
