New wheels of justiceNew wheels of justice: Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yu Wenzhe yesterday handed over ten mini-auto vans to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to aid in anti-crime patrols. The vehicles were donated by a Chinese company and were given to Guyana to strengthen our friendship with China, the ambassador said. The handing over, according to him, is an indication that the development of the relationship between the two countries had widened.Security, he noted, is very important for the development of our economy and social sectors. By providing a safe environment to citizens and visitors, Wenzhe said, Guyana will be better able to develop itself and attract more foreign investment. Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee accepted the fleet of vehicles on behalf of GPF and extended his appreciation and thanks to the Chinese Government. The presentation, according to him, is another expression of the growing cooperation between Guyana and China. With each year and with the advancement of technology, Rohee noted, more areas of criminal innovations are surfacing and it is becoming increasingly difficult to fight crime. Rohee stressed that the GPF must not and will not be left behind when other countries are making headway in fighting organised crime. The successes of the GPF, he said, have been many and so have the setbacks. However, to date the GPF has not backed down from fighting crime. The minister said that he is satisfied that the GPF is adequately equipped to respond to crimes. (Photo is courtesy of the Government Information Agency.)
