The Muslim Youth League of Guyana, the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex and the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman will be promoting a series of programmes to mark the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam Muhammad.
The programmes, which are expected to commence on February 4 and climax in May will be staged under the theme ‘The Greatest Gift to Mankind is the Prophet of Islam’, a release from Public Relations Officer Raymond Azeeze said.
The first programme will be held on February 3 at 6:15pm at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex with the ‘Welcome to Rabi-ul-Awal Programme’. Thereafter each night until February 16 there will be a programme there.
At these programmes the life of the Prophet of Islam will be discussed as well as the importance of showing love and gratitude for this greatest of all human beings, the release said.
Special videos will be shown featuring Professor Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, one of the world’s foremost Muslim scholars and founder of Minhaj University.
The national programme will be held on February 13 at 1:30 pm at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex and Caribbean and international Muslim scholar Al Haj Kamaludeen Ghanny of Trinidad and Tobago will deliver the feature address. In attendance also will be delegations from Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Canada.
Meanwhile, other programmes are scheduled for February 16, February 25, March 6, April 24 and the grand finale – the ‘Evening of Ghazals and Qaseedas 111’ will be on May 1.
Several more programmes to be hosted in Georgetown, Berbice and Essequibo will be announced later, the release added.
