A man yesterday begged acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to show him mercy when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of narcotics.
The court was told that on January 24 at Church Street, Georgetown, Anarie Neokie had in his possession 3 grams of cannabis.
The defendant who pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him stated, however, that, “I had two grams meh worship. I ain’t know now how is three. When deh weigh it at de station de police say is two.”
After begging the magistrate for mercy, the defendant was fined $3,000 and ordered to do six months of community service.
