A woman who says she stole 17 pairs of ladies undergarments for her children was yesterday placed on $5,000 bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court One.
It is alleged that on January 24 Cecily Trotman stole 17 panties valued at $4,900, property of Ashmin’s Trading.
When asked by the magistrate why she stole the panties, the woman who pleaded guilty to the charge said, “I stole them for my four children.” The accused was then placed on $5,000 bail and the matter adjourned to February 11 for sentencing.
A probation report was also ordered by the magistrate.
