Dear Editor,
The People’s National Congress has taken politics to a new and innovative level in Guyana with their town-hall style meetings across the country.
The electorate in all ten regions has an unprecedented opportunity to interact with the presidential candidates in an effort to make an informed judgement as to the suitability of their choice to assume the presidency of this blessed, but sometimes made to appear cursed, land of Guyana. I have listened to the deliberations of all the prospective candidates over the years on different issues, with the notable exception of young James Bond, and without a shred of doubt in my mind I will say that Mr David Granger is undoubtedly the most suitable to be nominated by his party for that enviable task of ultimately assuming the office of President.
Having said that, I unreservedly believe that a Granger/Ramjattan ticket on a joint opposition slate is an unbeatable combination when the major opposition parties resolve their difficulties and put the interests of Guyana first.
Last but not least, Mr Granger’s intimate knowledge of the history of Guyana cannot be surpassed by any of the present crop of potential candidates, but more important is the manner in which he manages to integrate education, youth policies and agri-processing potential which abounds.
There is also the inescapable fact of his security consciousness as a direct result of his impressive military accomplishments.
Yours faithfully,
Lloyd Davidson
