Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon was this morning admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital after complaining of back pains.
A release from the hospital this morning said that Dr Luncheon’s condition was “stable and the doctors have been conducting further investigations. He is expected to be discharged early.”
Health Minister, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy told Stabroek News this morning that Dr. Luncheon, 61, has a chronic back problem which has afflicted him for years. Doctors have decided to run a battery of tests on the HPS, he said, to “understand why he continues to have these pains”.
The Minister said Dr. Luncheon would be discharged from the institution, “at some point” while indicating that he is not in a position to say whether, “today or tomorrow”. He confirmed that the HPS is in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, but observed it was merely for privacy.
“The ICU paints a picture that he might be critical, but his condition is stable. He is fine and is going to be okay, and as soon as we complete one more test we will move him”, Ramsammy said. He pointed out that beds were available at the ICU when Dr. Luncheon was admitted.
Ramsammy said too that Dr. Luncheon suffered spasms prior to his admission, but pointed out the HPS did not “collapse as some people are reporting”.
