A 45-year-old man was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court yesterday on two charges of sexually abusing two minors.
It is alleged that the man sometime between November 30, 2010 and January 1, 2011 engaged in sexual penetration with a female who was 11 years. The second charge alleges that between January 19 and 20, the man engaged in sexual penetration with a male who was nine years old. After a report was made to the police, he was arrested and charged.
The man was not required to plead to the indictable charges and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin. He returns to court on February 28. The magistrate ordered a probation report and counseling for the virtual complainants.
