HYDERABAD, India, CMC – Mithali Raj is disappointed that India Women were unable to play any Tests during their recent series with West Indies Women.
The top India Women’s batter has bemoaned that the national team has not played a Test in the last four years.
“This is a bit surprising for we all still believe Test cricket is the ultimate test for the best of players,” she told The Hindu newspaper.
“Even this limited-overs series against West Indies was played after a gap of six months by us. We have to keep playing these international series regularly.”
She added: “No doubt, the One-dayers and T20s are exciting, but still I sincerely believe there should be a right balance between them and Tests in scheduling a series.”
The 28-year-old Raj has been described as the most successful India Women’s batter in contemporary cricket, but she has played just eight Tests.
