Those looking forward to another Carib Soca Monarch competition this year will be disappointed as there will be no contest this year.
In a brief statement to The Scene, Ansa McAl’s spokeswoman Darshanie Yussuf said that they were surprised to learn that there was a soca monarch competition last year that pre-empted Carib’s. She was referring to the Banks DIH Groovy Soca Monarch competition which was won by Jumo.
“We did not want to duplicate the ministry’s Soca Monarch,” said Yussuf adding that they have congratulated the winner. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport had shown its support for Banks’ contest.
