The National Sports Commission (NSC) and Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will co sponsor this year’s Mashramani table tennis tournament which is scheduled to begin next month at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall
.
Unlike previous years, this year’s tournament will see a different format with players having to qualify for some divisions by reaching the semi-finals in some categories.
The juniors will be in action from February 11-13 and the seniors from February 18-20, a release from the NSC stated.
According to the release, the duration of the tournament will depend of the amount of entries and as such, the schedule dates can be changed.
Trophies and other prizes will be up for grabs for the top three finishers of each category. The deadline for submitting entry is 16:30 hours on Tuesday February 8 at the CASH, late entries will not be accepted.
The junior category will feature six varying age categories ranging from the eight years and under to the 21 years and under category. Competition will begin for the juniors from 3.30pm on February 11.
Players are required to be at the playing venue at lease 30 minutes in advance of matches. NSC/ GTTA will arrange knock up time for players leading up to the tournament
Each player will be notified of their group and fixtures and dates of matches.
The fixtures and draws for matches will be done on February 10 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 5pm. An entrance fee will be charged for each player entering the tournament.
