An Albouystown resident was mysteriously gunned down last night in Perry Street, Tucville.
Dead is Charles Caesar of Garnett Street, Albouystown who was found lying outside his white 212 car just before 11 pm.
According to a resident of Perry Street she heard a single gunshot followed by what sounded like “people running away.”
The woman said that she did not leave her bed until her brother called her out and when they peeped out they saw the car with all of its doors open and the lights on. Shortly after, two men approached the car and called out residents and it was then observed that a man with what appeared to be a gunshot was lying on the roadway. The woman said they contacted the police who arrived on the scene shortly after and the body was removed.
When Stabroek News visited the man’s Albouystown residence this morning his relatives refused to comment.
Residents did not recall seeing anyone fleeing the scene but opined that the killer/s approached the man from the opposite direction and fled the same way
The motive for the attack is sill unclear as further efforts to contact relatives this midday were futile.
One resident said that he heard a single gunshot and when he looked out he saw someone “lying unconscious” at the side of the road. He said that later the man tried to speak but no sound was coming out of his mouth.
The man said that a white car was nearby with all the doors open, the lights were on and the interior was tumbled. The keys, he said, were missing.
The resident opined that the perpetrator/s were looking for something.
He added that from all appearances, Caesar who was heading south along Perry Street, which is in a state of disrepair, was ambushed from the front. The shooting occurred a few feet from a bend. The adjoining section of the road is smoother and allows for a faster getaway, the resident added.
Stabroek News was told that police arrived within ten minutes of being informed of the incident and spent some three hours combing the area for clues.
Sources say it would appear that Caesar was trailed and the killing had the attributes of a `hit’.
