Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus today remanded two brothers who allegedly murdered Strathspey resident Suresh Navin Bhola.
Mohamed Hazrazin Wahad, 17, and Mohamed Nazim Wahad, 24, both of Lot 179 Dr. Miller Street, Triumph, East Coast Demerara (ECD), were not required to plead to the capital charge when it was read to them. The men appeared at the Cove and John Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on January 30, at Strathspey, ECD, the two men murdered Bhola.
The case has been transferred to the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court for February 17.
In a press release, police said that Bhola, 34, was murdered at about 12.15am on Sunday. The deceased, according to police, was found lying on an access road at Strathspey with a wound to his abdomen. Bhola was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Wahad brothers were among six men who police had taken into custody. The others, a senior police source told Stabroek News yesterday, have since been released. Reports had alleged that Bhola was stabbed following an argument at the Diven’s Hangout Bar.
