Hire car driver charged with teen rape

A hire-car driver charged with raping a 14-year-old girl was granted bail when he appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s court yesterday.

Troy Andrew Williams of New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was granted bail in the sum of $250 000 by Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin. It is alleged that Williams on October 12 last year, engaged in sexual penetration with a child of the age of 14 years. After a report was made to the police, investigations were carried out and he was arrested and charged.

He was ordered to return to court on February 28 at Vreed-en-Hoop.
