A 47-year-old man was remanded to prison this morning after appearing at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of his stepfather.
Ashraf Ally of 113 De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the capital offence and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin. It is alleged that on January 29 at De Kinderen, Ally murdered Nandalall Williams.
Williams called ‘Poodle’, 58, and Ally were involved in the altercation at around 7 pm on Saturday. Police had said that investigations revealed that Williams and Ally had an argument during which Williams was struck about his body with a piece of wood. He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Williams died due to internal bleeding in the brain. Ally was unrepresented by counsel and the prosecutor told the court that the file was incomplete and requires advice from the DPP. Ally will have to return to court on April 1 at Vreed-en-Hoop.
