The Ministry of Local Government has aborted investigations into the allegations of extortion by the City Treasurer three months after he was sent on leave.
Yesterday at a press briefing at City Hall, Mayor Hamilton Green said that for “reasons that I can’t explain, the enquiry has not been completed and the ministry has aborted the enquiry”.
Acting City Treasurer Andrew Meredith was asked to proceed on 65 days leave back in November last year after he was alleged to have tried to extort money from an RRT Enterprise debt collector.
