Bandits were left empty-handed last night after sticking up a pump attendant at the Esso Gas Station on Vlissengen Road.
According to the attendant who chose to remain unnamed, two men rode up on a motorcycle and one of them brandished a handgun and demanded cash. The employee added that he told the men that he had no money on him and the men subsequently fled.
The incident occurred just before 9 pm.
“We were cautioned,” the man said referring to instructions to the attendants not to keep cash on them.
Gas stations have been frequently hit by bandits in recent years with the minimart at the Shell Gas Station at Camp and Newmarket Streets being robbed of an undisclosed sum of money on Tuesday night.
