CHENNAI, India, CMC – There was more trouble for the Indian organising committee of the World Cup, when a wall at the Chepauk Stadium collapsed on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people were in line at the stadium to buy tickets for World Cup matches, when the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that fortunately only two people were injured in the incident.
The Chepauk Stadium is hosting four World Cup matches, including a March 20 contest between co-hosts India and West Indies.
It’s the latest in a number of well-documented setbacks for Indian officials responsible for the staging of the Games.
Last week, officials of the International Cricket Council, the sport’s World governing body, ruled the famous Eden Gardens in Kolkata as unfit to host a February 27 World Cup match between India and England.
This match has been shifted to Bengaluru, as Eden Gardens tries hard to ensure it meets its obligations in order to host three other matches.
