The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has a number of fundraisers in the pipeline for this year.
According to President of the GTTA, Henry Greene, while speaking to Stabroek Sport on Tuesday, some five fundraisers are slated from February to July.
Greene explained that the fundraisers are aimed at raising money to assist local players to represent Guyana at upcoming table tennis championships overseas.
Listing the planned fundraisers, Greene disclosed that the first will be a Take Away Lunch and Lime at the Police Officer’s Mess on February 20 at 11am.
This will be followed by another fundraiser on February 23 as the GTTA takes advantage of the Mashramani celebrations with a Barbecue and Drinks Sale at Meriman’s Mall. According to Greene, they will have a booth at the venue for the event.
The following day, February 24, the GTTA will stage a Snack Sale at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, selling various snacks to persons attending clinics, according to Greene.
The fundraisers will then shift to Bartica on April 20 for a Pre-Regatta Bingo at the Transport and Harbours Department Stelling and continues with a raffle on July 31. Raffle sheets are already “out”, Greene noted.
According to Greene, first prize for the raffle will be one refrigerator, second prize – one gas stove, third prize – one microwave and fourth prize – one blender. Ten consolation prizes will also be up for grabs.
