Guyana’s annual satirical review, Link Show 27 will debut at the National Cultural Centre on Friday, February 18.
Directed by Ron Robinson and produced by Gem Madhoo-Nascimento, Link Show 27 is being presented as a joint production of The Theatre Company and GEMS Theatre Productions, press release said.
With elections due later this year, the release noted, many aspiring political candidates are surfacing for some of the major parties and have provided the scriptwriters with much material.
Most of the seasoned and popular actors in Guyana are cast in Link Show 27; they include Henry Rodney, Nasimul Hussain, Sonia Yarde, Michael Ignatius, Rajan Tiwari, Sheldon Braithwaite, Sherry Ann Dyal, Simone Dowding, Ajay Baksh, Derek Gomes, LaVonne George, Nicola Moonsammy, Leslyn Lashley and Troy Parboo. Over the last three years actors coming out of the Carifesta trainers workshops and other drama workshops including Kijana Lewis, Lynyus Adams, Tashondra Inniss, Tonaisea Robertson, Abigail Brower, Travis McKenzie and Kyle Isaacs have been joined the cast, claiming permanents spot in the show. Other recent additions are Paul Budnah, Raymond Persaud and Sean Budnah. Making their debut in Link Show 27 are Mosa Telford, Shameeza Hussain, Mark Edwards, Johanne David and young Ava Dyal
The Link, staged since 1981, has become an annual production on the theatre calendar of Guyana. Between1997-2002, it ventured to New York, New Jersey, Washington and Toronto playing to Guyanese and Caribbean audiences.
Link Show 27 tickets cost $1,500,$1,200 and $800 and are on sale at the National Cultural Centre box office, Giftland Officemax, Nigel’s Supermarket and Ashmin’s Trading. The producers are advising patrons to be on time as curtains will go up promptly at 8 pm.
Adequate security will be provided for vehicles in the car park and on Mandela and Homestretch avenues, the release said.
