Junior cyclist Paul DeNobrega pulled off a stunning victory yesterday at the National Park when he out-sprinted a number of senior cyclists to win the 18th Annual Ricks and Sari Agro Industries Limited youth race programme.
DeNobrega won the day’s feature event, the 35 laps invitation race in a time of one hour, 20 minutes and 32 seconds (1:20:32).
The young cyclist, who is regularly among the front runners in the junior category of races, cranked it up a notch yesterday to easily win the invitational race, leaving big names such as Alonzo Greaves and Robin Persaud in his trail. Greaves did well connect with the leading riders after spending much of the race deep in the second pack, but was restricted to second place, while Persaud led the race for a number of laps during the early stages, but was eventually limited to third.
