Two men, who allegedly beat and robbed a taxi driver in Prashad Nagar, were arrested by police shortly the incident on Sheriff Street.
At about 9.45 pm on Tuesday, police said, taxi driver David Christopher Megwah, 27, of Hadfield Street, Georgetown was beaten and robbed by two men who were armed with a knife and a bottle.
Investigations, police reported, revealed that Megwah was hired by the two perpetrators who attacked him while at Prashad Nagar hitting him about his head with the bottle. They then took away $5,680 and escaped.
The victim reported the matter to the ranks of a police patrol who encountered the suspects at Sheriff Street and they were arrested. The stolen cash and the knife were found in their possession. They are both in police custody and charges will be made shortly.
