The Flying Ace Cycle Club of Berbice held its 10th annual awards ceremony last Saturday at the New Amsterdam Town Hall where cyclists were awarded for outstanding performances while others were honoured for supporting the club.
Among the persons attending the awards ceremony were sponsors, representatives of sponsors, cyclists and other special invitees.
Neil Reece received the Champion Cyclist award and was presented with $40,000 from sponsors A. Ally and Sons General Store.
He also received a hamper from the Ricks and Sari Company and Beharry Group of Companies.
Presenting the cheque to Reece, along with a trophy was a representative of A Ally and Sons, Chief Security Officer Graham Moriah.
Wazim Hasnoo was Reece’s runner-up and he received a trophy along with a hamper.
Marica Dick was rewarded as the Female Champion cyclist while Crystal Lambert was the runner-up for the female champion cyclist award.
The Promising Cyclist award went to Rohan Persaud, Juban Crawford received the Juvenile Champion cyclist award and Elijah Bajadah received the award for being the BMX Champion cyclist. Brian Harris was the runner-up in the BMX category.
Meanwhile, Flying Ace Cycle Club’s coach Randolph Roberts was awarded as the best coach.
The club also extended thanks to all who made their awards ceremony a success, including Detective Corporal Lawrence Thomas of CID at Central Police Station, Stretch D Dollar Grocery Store, Furniture World, Arokium Funeral Home, Dhanraj Tulsi, Edward Davis, Ricks and Sari, Beharry Group of Companies, the New Amsterdam Town Hall, Water Chris Hotel, Persaud’s Funeral Home, Gloria Beharry, Rhonda Russell, Margaret Kuna, Errol Alphonso, John’s Photo Studio, Marsuline Bacchus, GBTI, Banks DIH, DDL and all parents of cyclists who supported the club.
