The School of Nursing and its programme have not been accredited, the National Accreditation Council (NAC) said yesterday.
The NAC dispatched a press release to the media following several newspaper reports about the School, which is located at Cummings Street and North Road, being a fraud.
Last week, the school’s owner Nanda Kissoon was taken to the Brickdam Police Station after a group of students alleged that the school was a fraud. The students demanded their money back.
According to the NAC release, neither the school nor its programmes have been accredited by the NAC, in accordance with the 2004 NAC Act. It added that it should further be noted that “the certificates of School of Nursing have not been evaluated to determine whether they meet recognised standards for accreditation.”
The release stated that the Minister of Education Shaik Baksh had “only reported to the media that the School of Nursing is registered with the National Accreditation Council.” Students and prospective students are advised to seek guidance from the National Accreditation Council.
