The Georgetown Division’s Children’s Mashramani Competition wrapped yesterday with the Physical Display segments at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Giving remarks on the displays presented, Chief Judge Cecil Chin commended the participants for a “very good effort.” He added that he was very happy to see the skills, abilities and talents of the youngsters.
The entries at yesterday’s competition, which were few, were judged under two categories: Pyramids and Combination.
The participants were judged for originality, effective use of space, and the appropriate use of music. As a result of the sparse entries, every participating school went away with a winning trophy.
In the 6 to 11 years age group, Sophia Primary with its piece “Conquerors” took first place in the Pyramids category; West Ruimveldt Primary with “Bodies in Motion” took first place and Sophia Primary took second place in the Combination category.
In the 14 to 17 years age group, Tutorial High School with “Getting Physical” took first place and North Georgetown Secondary with “Body Flex” took second place in the Pyramid category; Tutorial High School with “Let’s Get It” also took first place in the Combination category, with Lodge Secondary School’s “Egyptian Bodies” in second.
