Nevaeh Clarkston and Nirou Bissu came out on top of the under-8 boys and girls categories respectively on day one of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Mashramani Tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall yesterday.
Clarkston defeated her lone competitor in the under-8 category, Akeela Ralph 3-0 (11-1, 11-0, 11-2) to claim the category’s top spot, while Bissu defeated Leyon Obrian 3-1 (9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8) to win the finals of the under-8 boys category.
Kalfanni Yaw bagged third place after he was victorious against Osai Joseph in their third place matchup.
Meanwhile, Clarkston missed out on securing two titles when she was defeated in the girls under-10 finals by Felanas Jackman. Jackman won 3-1 (11-13, 11-9, 13-11, 11-9).
Priyanna Ramdhani was third in the girls under-10 category with a straight sets victory (11-0, 11-3, 11-1) over Jennifer Zhou.
The boys under-10 category was won by Jeremy Singh as he defeated Amit Mookram 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-7), while Khalil Ninvalle took the third place spot with a 3-0 (11-4, 12-10, 11-7) win over Akeem Forester.
