Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin says he is very proud of his wicketkeeping record achieved in the last match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at UWI, SPEC in St. Augustine.
Ramdin took a regional First Class record of seven dismissals in the first innings and returned to pouch another two in second innings for a match haul off nine catches. He fell three short of the world record of 12 catches, held by Peter McGlashan of Northern Districts.
Speaking about the record, Ramdin said he was particularly proud since the achievement helped his team to victory. “The best I have done before is five for the West Indies in Australia. More importantly however, by holding those catches I was able to help my team win the match.
“I am keeping pretty good at the moment and I want to improve on this as the series progresses. Keeping out there in the CCC match was not easy as the pitch was a bit unpredictable, so this makes me even happier with the fact that I held those nine catches in the match.”
Turning to his batting, Ramdin said he is still targeting around 600 to 700 runs for the season. “I did not get much in the last match but I am still hopeful I will get to my target of 600 to 700 for the season. We still have plenty cricket. We are just at the start, so I think the target is within my capabilities.”
The right hander struck 86 runs in the first match against Barbados at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre.
