Commander of `C’ Division, Assistant Commissioner Gavin Primo has said that police are yet to make an arrest in the murder of Enmore woman Rhampattie Ramsundar and are actively pursuing the lead provided by the sniffer dog at the scene on Tuesday.
“Investigators are actively pursuing the lead we have but up to now (just before 8 pm last night) we have come up with nothing new,” Primo said.
Ramsundar, 66, called ‘Auntie Daro,’ of Lot 88 Second Street, Newtown, Enmore, East Coast Demerara was found dead in her house. The woman’s hands and feet were tied-up and she bore marks of violence about the body.
Police had reported that Ramsundar’s body was found around 10:45 am in the kitchen of her home, which had been ransacked. Ramsundar lived alone. Investigators spent more than five hours combing the area for clues after the discovery. A dog led ranks to a house a short distance away but no one was at home.
This newspaper learnt that a man with whom Ramsundar had a dispute lived at the location. However, up to press time the man had not been found by police. Her sister, Indra Puran had said, went to police several times for the man.
When questioned about these reports and whether police had taken action the C Division Commander said he would not be able to comment until he had been briefed by the officers from the relevant station.
Puran, when contacted yesterday, said that she had been in contact with police but was unable to comment at the time.
The woman, this newspaper learnt, has since given police a statement and is assisting with investigations as it regards the dispute her sister had with the man. A quantity of cash also went missing from Ramsundar’s home.
