One hundred free Mash costumes are being offered by the Ministry of Tourism to those who would like to participate in its float which is depicting `Flora, Fauna, Culture, Our Pride’ this year.
When Stabroek News visited the Mash Camp on Tuesday at the main auditorium of the National Exhibition Centre in Sophia, preparations were well underway as models displayed five different costumes depicting the ministry’s theme.
Designer of the costumes, Rondell Bess, said that he has tried to highlight the theme in his designs and he thinks this has been a success. He noted that the Mash band has 10 segments, seven of which will display flora and fauna and the remaining three will deal with the cultural aspects.
His designs, he explained, specifically aim at festivals such as Phagwah, Easter and even folk festivals. Designs, which cater for just about a 100 persons in each segment, are made of basic materials such as fabric, paint, wire and tape.
