Queen’s College with its contingent of 27 students was able to gather 11 medals from four events when the Barbados Relay ended in that country on Sunday.
According to a representative of QC, the school participated with their largest ever contingent at the event, where their accolades amounted to one gold, two bronze medals and eight silver medals from two second place performances in their relays.
The lone gold came through the performance of Christopher Belfield who won the boys’ under-15 shot put event, while a bronze was won by Amil Alli in the same event. Another bronze was won by Larissa Wiltshire in the girls’ under-15 long jump.
In the relays, the school’s girls under-17 4x400m relay team finished in second place like the QC boys 4x100m relay team.
In other achievements, the QC girls’ team placed ninth out of 31 schools, while the boys’ squad placed sixth out of 36 teams, according to the school’s representative.
Meanwhile, Mae’s Athletic Club received a second place medal from the boys’ under-15 shot put, compliments of Salim Azeez, while the girls’ relay team was third in the 4x400m, according to team manager/coach Alisha Fortune.
Fortune, the physical education teacher at Mae’s, also noted that the team came in second in the club and institution category.
