Rhampattie Ramsundar, who was found tied up with marks of violence to her body in her ransacked Enmore home on Tuesday, died as a result of asphyxiation due to manual strangulation compounded with blunt trauma to the head.
A post-mortem examination was yesterday performed on the woman’s body by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Meanwhile, up to late yesterday afternoon, two male residents, of Newtown, Enmore, who were arrested after Ramsundar, 64, was found dead, remained in police custody.
Ramsundar, popularly called ‘Auntie Daro,’ was found dead around 10:45 am in the kitchen of her home. Her hands, which were raised above her head, were tied and marks of violence were visible about her body. There was also something around her neck leading to suspicions that she had been strangled. The perpetrator/s also threw a piece of cloth over her body.
More that half a million dollars which the woman had collected last Thursday was missing.
One of the men in police custody has reportedly been troubling the woman, causing her to make several police reports. Hours after her body was found, a tracker dog led police to the man’s house. The other man arrested also lives in the area. It is unclear how he may be connected with the woman. Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination yesterday revealed that murdered nursery school teacher Natalie Loncke died as a result of a fractured skull due to blunt trauma and multiple stab wounds, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said yesterday.
Loncke’s autopsy was also performed by Dr. Singh at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary.
Loncke, 41, who sustained two stab wounds to the head, was allegedly killed by her lover, who up to press time last evening remained in hiding.
According to Persaud, the suspect, Hubert Pilgrim, 41, is yet to be arrested. Police issued a wanted bulletin for the Lodge resident on Thursday.Reports are that Loncke, of Lot 9 Norton Street, Wortmanville, and her boyfriend had a heated argument, during which she told the man to leave her home. The argument turned violent and Loncke’s 19-year-old daughter Renatha Craig went to her rescue but was hit across the face with a bar by the suspect. It is unclear what happened immediately after Craig was hit since the teen ran out of the house. Later, the suspect was reportedly seen leaving the scene on a bicycle. He allegedly had a knife in his hand. It was after he left that Loncke was found lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom. She succumbed to her wounds about fifteen minutes after being rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious state.
