International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) qualified coaching instructor Sydney Christophe said last night that Guyana possess a depth of talent.
Christophe is here at the request of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) to conduct a level one coaching course. The course begins this morning at the Cliff Anderson Sport Hall.
Christophe, speaking to Stabroek Sports said that he plans to cover at least six hours today which will entail giving the participants an overview of what the course entails.
One of the requirements of the course said Christophe is full attendance at the course which will run for 30 hours. At the end of the course will be a “Paralympics component,” the former Caribbean men’s singles champion added.
At the end of the course the local coaches will be required to undergo 30 hours of community work under an appointed supervisor before being awarded a certificate, said Christophe.
Christophe referring to the talent that this country possesses said that with the staging of the course and the GTTA’s plans to introduce coaching far and wide better results will also be forthcoming at the Caribbean level and even at the Latin American Championships.
