The Corentyne man who was found dead in a Linden drain on Sunday died as a result of a broken neck and haemorrhage to the brain, a post-mortem examination yesterday revealed.
The PME which was conducted by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh also revealed that Henry Rose’s head struck a brick as he fell; a piece was found embedded in his forehead, a close relative told this newspaper.
According to the relative, the police have indicated that they cannot close the case since Rose’s bicycle remains missing and there is a possibility that someone might have pushed him causing him to topple into the drain.
The relative added that while they are awaiting the conclusion of the police’s investigation, they are of the firm belief that Rose’s death was accidental.
Relatives also said that Rose, who was the brother of Deputy Mayor Robert Williams, was a heavy drinker.
Rose was discovered facedown in a drain along the recently constructed Foxy Road at Wismar, Linden. He was clad in long blue denim jeans, grey jersey and a pair of brown leather shoes.
A black cap and orange rag believed to be his were found close to the scene.
Police retrieved a cell phone and $200 from his right side pants pocket. There was a wound on his forehead.
The man was last seen at the Foxy night club after 2 am on Sunday.
