A 32-year-old Berbice man was stabbed to death early this morning at the Rosignol Stelling and the alleged perpetrator is in police custody, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said.
The dead man’s name has been given as Bharrat Tejpaul of Shieldstown, West Bank Berbice. The crime chief told Stabroek News that around 3:30 am Tejpaul was repeatedly stabbed outside a snackette. The suspect was later arrested by police at his home also located in Rosignol.
Stabroek News later learnt that a group of men were drinking outside a snackette close to the Rosignol Stelling where Tejpaul had gone to purchase food.
While waiting on the food, he had an argument with the men during which one of them got up and stabbed him.
