The New Amsterdam Warriors and the Fyrish Fire Hawks have advanced to the final of the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association Mashramani basketball tournament at the New Amsterdam basketball court.
The final of the competition has been tentatively set for tonight due to the current inclement weather, but the game will jump off weather permitting.
This will be the second time the two teams will clash in the tournament.
In their first encounter the New Amsterdam Warriors defeated Fire Hawks 89-72 at the Fyrish hard court in front a sizable crowd.
From jump ball the Warriors went to work with Flinn Hinds leading their offence, scoring eight of Warriors’ total 20 points in the first period.
Warriors extended their lead in the second quarter and were comfortably leading 53-34 by halftime.
Fire Hawks gained some momentum in the third quarter and reduced Warriors’ lead, but after some good defence by their opponents in the final quarter they were eventually outdone.
Warriors’ Randy Richardson led all scores with 28 points while his teammate Quesi Joseph contributed 26 points.
Joel Fraser and Rayel Franklyn topped Fyrish’s scoring with 21 and 19 points respectively.
