The new Leonora Secondary School, which is being built at a cost of $293.5M, is expected to accommodate 1,000 students from within Region Three.
A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said the modern structure will be ready for the September school term. On Friday, Minister of Education Shaik Baksh and Regional Chairman Julius Faerber and a team conducted a spot check on the progress of the works.
The release said the new structure is expected to boast science and computer laboratories, a library and technical and vocational education rooms, an administrative building, sanitary blocks and 25 classrooms.
This new building will add to the three new primary schools which were completed last year at Parfait Harmonie, Belle West and Tuschen, in Region Three. The Education Ministry is also reviewing the availability of nursery schools.
