Dear Editor,
The Minister in charge of our roadways should be made to resign; just look at the West Coast road, the East Bank road and all the roads in Georgetown – and don’t tell us about the city’s responsibility because the central government rules Georgetown. On Charlotte Street in the centre of Georgetown, we are faced with a situation where absolutely nothing has been done to fix this street in the last 15 years.
I have called everyone, from the Minister to the Mayor, but to no avail. Imagine no local elections in 15 years and only the central government is to blame. It’s simply atrocious that citizens pay so much tax on vehicles, tires, shocks, etc, and the conditions on our roads are basically trashy. Don’t even mention the roads entering villages across the whole country. Those responsible should be made to pay with their jobs. We, the citizens are tired and fed up with being tired and fed up.
Yours faithfully,
Cheddi (Joey) Jagan (Jr)
