Grenada unions demand Clico solution

(BBC) The Grenada Trades Union Council led a picket outside the Caricom leader’s meeting in Grenada on Friday, calling for regional leaders to find a solution to the assist policy holders of the cash-strapped insurance company Clico, following the demise of its parent company, Trinidad-based CL Financial.

Trinidad has decided not to be part of a new company being established in the Eastern Caribbean to ease the financial burdens of the affected policy holders.

Union president Madonna Harford wants the Kamla Persad-Bissessar-government to rethink its position.

Ms Harford says the pickets will continue if the matter is not dealt with appropriately at this meeting.
