Registrar of the Friendly Societies Kareem Jabar said that he will commence his review of the report on the operations of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Monday.
According to Jabar the report was submitted by Mr. Foster on Thursday but he was tied up with other work and therefore he could not have gone through it. Further, Jabar noted yesterday that after he is finished reviewing the document there will be another review with the GCB executives at a later date.
This meeting will be to discuss the findings of the investigations. After this meeting then the executives will be able to set an election date, which was originally set for January 30.
On the other hand, when Stabroek Sport spoke with the Permanent Secretary in the Labour Ministry, Trevor Thomas, he said that he has not seen the report and therefore he cannot make any pronouncements at this time.
Meanwhile, the full scale investigation came after the February 9 executive meeting with officials from the Registrar of the Friendly Societies. That development came after the society had earlier disclosed that there were “concerns” raised by its accounting specialists about the audited financial reports and annual returns of the GCB.
The investigation was not to be limited to who signs cheques and who approves expenditures. These fell under the ambit of the investigator since some executives at the meeting had complained that many times they were not aware of how and when monies were allocated for various projects.
