Armed robbers on Friday night escaped with a motor car, jewellery and cash after striking at Agricola and Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) in separate attacks.
According to the police, the first incident occurred at 19:15 hours at Agricola during which storekeeper Seeranie Lall, 25, of Hunter Street, Albouystown was robbed of her jewellery, two cell phones and $1,000.
Investigations have so far revealed that the woman was sitting in a motor vehicle which was parked on the Agricola public road when she was held up by two men armed with firearms who escaped after relieving her of her valuables.
In the other incident taxi driver Rameshwar Singh of Non Pariel, ECD, was attacked and robbed by two men armed with firearms around 21:00 hours at Better Hope, ECD.
Police said in a press release that investigations revealed that Singh was hired by a female to be taken to Better Hope and while putting her off at her destination, he was confronted by two men who held him at gunpoint and took away his motor car, shoes, cell phone and $4,000 along with US$52.
The motor vehicle was recovered by the police at about 09:30 hours yesterday with the front and rear lights, front grill, car stereo and speakers and two side mirrors missing.
Investigations are continuing into both incidents.
