A vendor was on Friday placed on $50,000 bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after denying a charge of smoking cannabis.
It is alleged that on February 21, at Georgetown, Mark Carmichael was caught smoking cannabis. The Canal Number One resident pleaded not guilty to the charge, when it was read to him at Court One in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
According to the facts as presented by Prosecutor Lionel Harvey, on the day in question police were on patrol near Swiss House Cambio, on Water Street, when they saw the defendant with the illegal substance smoking.
After the prosecutor declined any objections to bail being granted, Carmichael was granted bail.
The matter was transferred to Court Five for reports and fixture on February 28.
