Attorney-at-Law Kim Kyte-John was yesterday elected unopposed as president of the Guyana Netball Association (GNA), when the body held it’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the boardroom of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Former secretary of the association, Lawrence Griffith is the new Vice-President, switching positions with former VP Shondell Samaroo, who is now the secretary.
Treasurer Donna Boston retained her position while Randolph Critchlow was elected Assistant Secretary/Treasurer. The committee members are Bryan King and Warren Wilson.
The new executive is expected to serve a two year term ending 2013.
Kyte-John said that her dream is to take the sport of netball to the next level.
Extending some words of wisdom to her newly elected executives, Kyte-John stressed that all those who accepted their positions are now charged with being committed towards serving. Kyte-John said that she expects everyone to pull their weight and team work will be the key towards the development of the association and by extension the sport of netball.
Kyte-John stated that in order for the sport to achieve success those involved will have to pool their resources and skills. She acknowledged that developing the predominantly female sport will be a challenge and said that though she is new, she expects to make progress.
She also thanked the past executives for serving, stating that she still hopes that those who weren’t elected will still come and lend their expertise towards developing the sport.
Kyte-John in particular thanked outgoing president Maxine Parris-Aaron for her excellent work in the past.
The new executive is expected to have its first meeting tomorrow from 6.45pm at Kyte-John’s office.
