Gordon Richards and Ryan Beharry were in devastating form in winning their respective categories at the GuyanaNRA handgun section shoot last weekend at TSU ranges at Eve Leary.
Richards emerged winner of the Regulars division with an impressive 183 points and three V-bulls at the 10 and 15 metres ranges in the season opening competition which attracted several of the top local shooters.
He shot 94 with one V at 10 metres with one string of 10 rounds and returned to record 92 with 2 Vs at the 15 metres range to beat several seasoned campaigners in the shootout.
Second position went to Candacy Frank who shot 97 with 3 Vs at the 10 yards range and 82 at 15 yards for a grand score of 179 and 3 Vs.
Oudit Seenarine was third with 177 points and 3 Vs with scores of 93-2 and 84-2.
Dr. Johann DaSilva and Ray Beharry ended in the top five with overall scores of 177-1 and 170-1 respectively.
Beharry dominated the beginners’ category amassing a total of 191 points and 13 V-bulls at the five-metre range.
He shot 96 with 6 Vs in the first round of 10 shots and bettered that performance with 98-7 in the second round.
Cleveland Lewis was second with 185-3 with scores of 91 and 94-2 while Miguel Gurchuran took third position with 183-8.
Also in the top five were Robeson Benn (156-3) and Kapiladera Simon (154-4).
In the female beginners’ category, Vidushi Persaud shot 141-1 at the five-metre range with two strings of 10 rounds.
