Four officers and 30 other ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will be participating in Exercise Tradewinds in Antigua and Barbuda for 20 days.
In a press release, the army said the officers and ranks are drawn from the First and Second Infantry Battalions, Coast Guard and Defence Headquarters. Captain Rawle Stephens is leading the contingent.
The troops departed Guyana yesterday and they are expected to be involved in two weeks of preparatory training in Law Enforcement, Disaster Relief Operations and Coast Guard Operations. The Exercise will then culminate in a one-week venture for all participants aimed at testing the tactics, techniques and procedures learnt during the preparatory training.
